After we left the Grand
Canyon Caverns, the trip to Vegas was quite a beautiful display
of weather, as mother nature wreaked havoc on the desert hiway.
The wind was blowing hard and the skyfire danced across the hazy
desert sky. While the rain and lightning let up by the time we
arrived in Vegas, the wind still blew HOT, such that even the super
air conditioning of our hotel was unable to compensate.

Can you believe it's over a hundred degrees in this
photo. I had never experienced such heat after midnight.

By the next day, the wind had let up, but not the heat.
It was so extremely hot, as we tried to walk the strip. We found a
small bit of reprieve in the oasis of the Flamingo Hotel.

My nephew and I wandered around the Flamingo Hotel
grounds for about an hour trying to find the flamingos and zoo that
was advertised in the site map. We found some plastic flamingos, and
eventually found the real ones.

We spent a lot of time playing in the FAO Schwartz
toy store at Caesar's Palace. Here, a homesick Jared cries "I
want my Mummy!!"

And soon my mom befriends a rather grouchy fellow with
a fondness for garbage.
